Coach Antonio Conte has announced his future at Chelsea. He also confirmed that will not return to lead Italy in the next time.
Conte left the Azzurri after the EURO 2016 and worked for Chelsea. Conte’s successor at the time, Giampiero Ventura, was sacked by the Italian Football Association yesterday, after being knocked out of World Cup 2018 for the first time since 1958.
Asked about his return to Italy, coach Conte said:”At the moment, I am focusing on doing my best for Chelsea, it is my priority and I want to build a strong team here, I want to create a good foundation for the team. Last season, we were champion and now the whole team still have a lot of work to do, and I’ve got my focus on Chelsea and my commitment to the future here. ”
About Italy’s failure. Conte added: “My feelings are very sad like the Italians, after 60 years our country has been absent from the World Cup.You know that is very important for football.”
Italy needs to take responsibility. Not just one or two people, the whole of Italy has failed. Italy must quickly rebuild and find the best solution. ”
This weekend, Chelsea will visit West Brom in the Round of 12 Premier League.
